Electric Guitars

Deriving from the acoustic guitar, the electric guitar has grown much since its creation in the early section of the twentieth century. In fact, it has since become one of the most popular musical instruments in the entire world. The inspiration from the acoustic counterpart still remains prominent to this day; all guitars have similar part and layouts - no matter the style. The main difference is that acoustic guitars are hollow bodied, meaning that the sound that they produce is rung out through the body itself. With electric guitars, which are solid-bodied, the sound is better heard when the guitar is plugged into an amplifier.

Now, this begs the question, why the change? The answer is simple. Volume! If we were to travel back in time, where there was no streaming platforms for music or anything of the sort, we could see that instruments were used publicly. Music was played in spaces where there was also singing, dancing and a full band! So, the electric guitar was created with volume in mind. This allowed for the guitar to become a main instrument in genres like the blues and rock and roll!
