In 1951, when the Telecaster was created, it was sure to change the game. In fact, its creators were sure of it since the moment it was born. It found an intense way to bring an entirely new kind of tone, volume and attitude to the rock and roll world. Initially, the public was not so impressed visually, though. The Telecaster was compared to things like boat paddles and snow shovels. In the real world, though, people only care about looks until the real stuff is shown off.
According to the official Fender website, "little if anything was fancy about the Telecaster."(Fender) It is because bits and pieces from other models of already existing guitars were combined to create the skeleton of the Telecaster.
With separate knobs controlling the volume and the timbre of the instrument (by switching pickups), the Fender Telecaster created a boom that was most unique. The different pickups in the instrument were the main thing to drive and boost its music.
